What does this fault code mean?
The code is event controlled and works as information. It does not mean that the control module where it is active has a fault. The ECM alternates the fuel mixture and compares the signal from the rear oxygen sensor, and the code is set when the rear sensor switches too fast, which is read as reduced efficiency of the main catalytic converter on bank 1.
Possible causes
- No fault that needs repair lies behind the code
What you can do
- 1The code has no troubleshooting of its own, so start with any other fault codes stored in the control module
- 2The code is tested at idle with a warm engine, and the car must have been moving first; drive it and let it idle to see whether it comes back
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault status after the car has been driven and then idled with a warm engine
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
