What does this fault code mean?
The fault concerns the temperature sensor before the particle filter on bank 1 and is set when the signal from it is faulty. The code is named for a low signal, but the condition is a signal that does not follow a calculated value.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Damaged particle filter temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault status with the engine running
- 2Check that the connectors to the temperature sensor before the particle filter are firmly seated and not oxidised
- 3Measure with a multimeter that the signal cable has no break and is not short-circuited to ground
- 4Read and clear the fault code, then road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the temperature sensor before the particle filter
Symptoms you may notice2
- The car lacks power
- The Check engine (malfunction indicator) light comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- The car goes into limp-home mode
