What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the catalytic converter efficiency on bank 2. The ECM alternates the fuel mixture between rich and lean and compares the signal from the rear oxygen sensor on bank 2. The code is set when that sensor switches too quickly.
Possible causes
- Front and rear oxygen sensor installed the wrong way round
- Air leak in the exhaust system
- Damaged front oxygen sensor (bank 2)
- Damaged front catalytic converter (bank 2)
What you can do
- 1Check that the oxygen sensors on bank 2 are in the correct positions, so the front and rear have not been swapped
- 2Look for air leaks in the exhaust system, especially at joints and seams
- 3If no leak is found, have a workshop check the front oxygen sensor on bank 2
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop judge whether the front catalytic converter on bank 2 is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is lit
