What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the reference orifice in the leak diagnosis of the fuel and evaporative system. The ECM measures the current curve of the leak diagnosis pump, and if that curve is unreasonably high or noisy, the reference measurement is treated as faulty.
Possible causes
- Dirt or moisture in the pump
- Damaged heating element in the pump
- Damaged leak diagnosis pump
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, start a quick test of the fuel tank system and check that it starts and moves on to the reference phase
- 2If the test refuses to start, first confirm the start conditions are satisfied, then try once more
- 3Check that the connector to the leak diagnosis pump is dry and free from oxidation
- 4For model year 2007 to 2008, a workshop should check the control module software before leak fault-tracing
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the leak diagnosis pump
