What does this fault code mean?
The ECM judges the EVAP valve by reading the pressure sensor signal in the intake manifold. The code is set when the control module finds that the EVAP valve has jammed in the open or closed position during EVAP control.
Possible causes
- The hose between the intake pipe and the EVAP valve is broken, blocked or pinched
- The hose between the EVAP valve and the canister is broken, blocked or pinched
- EVAP valve stuck in the open position
- EVAP valve stuck in the closed position
- Throttle sticking or blocked by oil film, dust or ice
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, run the quick test on the EVAP valve with the engine at idle; it takes a few seconds
- 2If the result shows Fault found, check the hose and its connections between the EVAP valve and the canister for damage, blockage and pinching
- 3If the result shows No fault found, check the hoses between the EVAP valve and the intake pipe in the same way
- 4Check that the throttle is not sticking and is not blocked by oil, dust or ice
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the EVAP valve, which may need cleaning or replacing
