What does this fault code mean?
The ECM sets the code when it detects that the signal wire to the EVAP valve is shorted to ground or has a break.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connectors
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged EVAP valve
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the EVAP valve with the ignition on and listen for a clicking sound, or feel for vibration
- 2If the valve does not click, the fault is permanent. If it clicks, the fault is not active at this moment
- 3Check the EVAP valve connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to ground (the body) and has no break
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the EVAP valve

- A fuel smell is noticed
