What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered that the signal from the EVAP valve is too high. The code is general and concerns an electrical fault. The causes are a signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage or a damaged EVAP valve.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged EVAP valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector at the EVAP valve is fully seated and free from corrosion
- 2Look for chafing or pinch damage on the wire between the EVAP valve and the engine control module
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the EVAP valve is electrically intact. An open circuit or short inside the valve shows that it is damaged
- 4With a multimeter, check that the signal wire between the engine control module and the EVAP valve has no contact with supply voltage
- 5Replace a damaged EVAP valve, clear the code and road test. If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator (check engine) light comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- Control with two oxygen sensors (lambda sensors) is disabled
