What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the control signal to the EGR valve in circuit B and has detected that it is abnormally high. This points to the control circuit being shorted to supply voltage, or to the valve or its position sensor being damaged.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged EGR valve
- Damaged position sensor on the EGR valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact; their locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 2Check the valve connector and wiring for chafing and short circuits to supply voltage
- 3Have a workshop clean the valve of soot and dirt if needed and check that it does not bind
- 4Activate the valve and check the position sensor with diagnostic equipment; replace a faulty valve or sensor and carry out an adaptation after repair

- The engine warning lamp (Check Engine) may come on, but not always
