What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has registered that the signal from the fuel level sensor is faulty. The general code concerns a bus or message failure, and most of the diagnosis for the sensor is carried out in the central electronic module (CEM).
Possible causes
- Fault registered in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Damaged fuel level sensor
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first and troubleshoot according to them
- 2Check the connections and wiring to the fuel level sensor first
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wires to the fuel level sensor are not open-circuited or short-circuited to ground
- 4If no fault is found in the wiring or connectors, the fuel level sensor is the suspected cause. Have a workshop replace it
- 5Clear the fault code only after the fault has been remedied, and road test
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
