What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the exhaust pressure sensor, which the engine control module (ECM) uses to measure the pressure in the intake pipe. The code is set when the reading is out of line with the system other pressure sensors. It is general and does not specify what kind of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Loose contact or oxidation in the connections
- Faulty exhaust pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the connections to the exhaust pressure sensor for looseness and oxidation, and remedy them if needed
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the exhaust pressure sensor value and compare it with the values of the other pressure sensors in the system
- 3With a diagnostic tool you can also read the fault code's status, counters and frozen values to see how often the fault has occurred
- 4If the connections are sound and the deviation remains, have a workshop check the exhaust pressure sensor
- 5Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- The check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- EGR control stops
