What does this fault code mean?
The code reports a signal from the exhaust pressure sensor that is too high. The ECM checks the signal, and the fault may be the signal wire shorted to supply voltage or a faulty sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- The exhaust pressure sensor is faulty
What you can do
- 1Follow the cable from the exhaust pressure sensor and look for chafing where it may have touched something live
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not short-circuited to supply voltage
- 3Look at the connector to the exhaust pressure sensor: it should sit firmly and be clean
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the exhaust pressure sensor value with the ignition on and see whether it is unreasonably high
- 5If the wiring is sound and the fault remains, have a workshop check or replace the exhaust pressure sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- A warning lamp (check engine) lights up or acts abnormally
What the fault can affect1
- EGR control stops
