What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the second electric fan, fan 2, and indicates that its speed is too low. The engine control module (ECM) requests a speed from the electric fan control module, which varies the voltage to the fan motor steplessly. The code is general and does not specify what kind of fault it is.
Possible causes
- One electric fan does not respond on the communication, which applies to cars with two electric fans
- The fan control module detects that the supply voltage is too high or too low
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the cooling fan are intact. Their location is given in the owner's manual
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault status with the engine running and see whether the fault appears for fan 2
- 3Check that both electric fans are connected and that the connectors are secure
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply voltage to fan 2 has no open circuit
- 5After repair, check that the fault status shows no fault once the diagnosis is complete
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check fan 2 and its control
