Applies to the following models:

Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the performance of the electric fan and may be set when the fan has to run at very high speed for a long time, for example in queues in high outside temperatures. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the PWM signal to the fan control module, and the code does not specify what kind of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Very high outside or engine temperature, where the fan must run at high speed for long periods, for example in queues
- Damaged electric fan
What you can do
- 1Let the engine cool and check that the fan is not blocked and turns freely
- 2Check that the fuses for the cooling fan are intact. Their location is shown in the owner's manual
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault status with the ignition on to see whether the fault is active
- 4Check that the radiator is not clogged with dirt or debris, since the fan then has to work harder
- 5If the fault recurs even during normal driving, have a workshop check the electric fan
- 6Clear the fault code and road test to see whether it returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
