What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the EVAP system and indicates a high purge flow. When the engine control module (ECM) activates the EVAP control and sees no change in the idle or lambda correction, this is interpreted as a damaged EVAP system. The code does not specify what kind of fault it is.
Possible causes
- Damaged EVAP valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the owner's manual
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the EVAP valve and listen for a clicking sound
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the EVAP valve is electrically intact, and look at its connector for oxidation and looseness
- 4Replace a damaged EVAP valve and clear the code. Road test afterwards
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the EVAP system
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lights up
