What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates that the flow through the EVAP system is too low. The engine control module (ECM) checks it by activating the EVAP control and seeing whether the idle or lambda correction changes. If no change occurs, this is treated as a damaged system.
Possible causes
- Blocked hose between the canister and the EVAP valve
- Blocked hose between the EVAP valve and the intake pipe
- Damaged EVAP valve
What you can do
- 1Look at the hoses between the canister, the EVAP valve and the intake pipe for kinks, folds or blockages
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the owner's manual
- 3Activate the EVAP valve with a diagnostic tool and check that it operates
- 4Replace a damaged EVAP valve and clear the code. Road test afterwards
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the hoses and the EVAP system
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lights up
