What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns an internal system fault linked to the speed sensor. The brake control module (BCM) registers the fault on the speed signal, passes it on to the engine control module (ECM) and also stores a fault code of its own. The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) may light up.
Possible causes
- Faulty speed input to the brake control module (BCM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the brake control module (BCM) and remedy them first
- 2With the diagnostic tool you can read the speed signal during a test drive and see whether it is steady
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the owner's manual
- 4The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop check the wheel sensors and the brake control module. Do not work on the brake system yourself
- 5Clear the fault code only once the fault in the brake control module has been remedied, and road test
Symptoms you may notice1
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lights up
What the fault can affect1
- the brake module speed signal is replaced by a fixed value
