What does this fault code mean?
This is an event-driven information code, and it does not indicate a fault in the engine control module. The ECM sets the code when the brake module speed signal (BCM) is too high. The cause may lie in the brake control module, and the code disappears when the conditions no longer apply.
Possible causes
- The cause may lie in the brake control module (BCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the brake control module (BCM) with a diagnostic tool, and remedy them first
- 2Do not clear the code separately. It disappears when the conditions no longer apply
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the vehicle speed as live data while driving and see whether it appears reasonable
- 4The brake system is safety-critical. If the speed signal continues to be wrong, have a workshop check the brake control module, and do not work on the brakes yourself
- 5Road test after the repair and check that the code does not return
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
