What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the vehicle speed from the brake control module (BCM) with that from the transmission control module (TCM) over the CAN network. The code is set when the difference becomes too large or when the primary signal is faulty. the transmission module speed signal is then used instead.
Possible causes
- The cause lies in the brake control module (BCM)
- Fault in the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the brake control module and the transmission control module with a diagnostic tool, and remedy them first
- 2Check that the CAN connectors are secure and free from oxidation
- 3After recharging or battery replacement, press the brake pedal twice within about two seconds to activate the cruise control
- 4Clear the fault code only once the fault has been remedied, and road test
- 5The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop check the brake control module. Do not work on the brake system yourself
Symptoms you may notice3
- The cruise control does not work at all
- A message appears on the text display
- The cruise control cannot be engaged
What the fault can affect2
- A secondary transmission module speed signal (TCM) is used
- The cruise control is switched off while the fault is active
