What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the speed sensor where the voltage is too low. The ECM compares the brake module speed signal (BCM), which is the main signal, with the reference signal from the transmission control module (TCM). The code is set when the two values differ too much with the engine running.
Possible causes
- Faulty transmission module speed signal (TCM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the transmission control module and remedy them first
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the speed from the brake control module and the transmission control module as live data with the engine running
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover
- 4The brake system is safety-critical: if the values differ and the brake control module is suspected, have a workshop check it
- 5Clear the fault code once the fault has been remedied, and road test
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lights up
- Uneven idling
