What does this fault code mean?
The code indicates that the voltage to the speed sensor is too high. The engine control module (ECM) compares the brake module speed signal (BCM), which is the main signal, with the reference signal from the transmission control module (TCM). The code is set when the deviation becomes too large while the engine is running.
Possible causes
- Faulty brake module speed signal (BCM)
What you can do
- 1The brake system is safety-critical. Read the fault codes in the brake control module with a diagnostic tool, but have a workshop repair the brake system
- 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the speed from the brake control module and from the transmission control module and see whether they agree
- 3Check the fuses for the speed signal and make sure they are intact
- 4Check that the connectors to the brake control module are secure and free from oxidation
- 5Clear the fault code once the fault has been remedied, and road test at idle and while driving
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lights up
- Uneven idling
