What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns a signal fault where the shape or waveform of the speed signal deviates. The engine control module (ECM) compares the signals from the brake control module (BCM), which is the main signal, and the transmission control module (TCM), which is the reference.
Possible causes
- Faulty transmission module speed signal (TCM)
- Faulty brake module speed signal (BCM)
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fault codes in the transmission control module and the brake control module, and remedy them first
- 2Check that the speedometer works smoothly during a test drive at higher speeds
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the owner's manual
- 4The brake system is safety-critical, so have a workshop check the brake control module and the wheel sensors. Do not work on the brake system yourself
- 5Clear the fault code once the fault has been remedied, and road test
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lights up
- Uneven idling
