What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns a comparison fault in the speed signal, and the engine control module (ECM) has registered that the signal is faulty. The fault may lie in the brake control module, the CAN network, the connections or a wheel sensor.
Possible causes
- Fault codes ECM-P029700, ECM-P062C00 and ECM-P050029 can cause this code, so check them first
- The car has exceeded its maximum permitted speed
- The cause lies in the brake control module (BCM)
- Fault in the CAN network
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections
- Damaged wheel sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the brake control module and the engine control module with a diagnostic tool, and remedy them first
- 2Check that the CAN connectors are secure and free from oxidation
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is given in the owner's manual
- 4The brake system is safety-critical. If a wheel sensor is suspected, have a workshop check it and do not work on the brakes yourself
- 5Road test after the repair and check that the code does not return while driving
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
