What does this fault code mean?
During starting the ECM checks the engine speed. If the speed stays too low for a set time, depending on temperature, the module treats it as a fault and sets the code. The fault may come from a blocked engine, interference from nearby wiring, or a damaged pulse sensor.
Possible causes
- Engine blocked so that it cannot turn over
- Signal interference
- Damaged pulse sensor
What you can do
- 1Check the engine for visible objects that could block it so that the crankshaft cannot turn
- 2Check the pulse sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the pulse sensor is correctly fitted
- 4Check that high-current wiring, such as the starter motor cable, is not routed too close to the pulse sensor or its wiring
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the engine speed in live data while the engine is cranked and check that it rises
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pulse sensor and the interference from the wiring
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start
