What does this fault code mean?

The ECM monitors the oil pressure with a combined oil pressure and oil temperature sensor. The oil pressure is compared with the ambient and boost pressures already when the ignition is switched on. The code is set when the engine is running and the difference is too large. The signal stays constantly high, and the fault lies in the sensor.

    Possible causes

    • Oil pressure and oil temperature sensor is damaged

    What you can do

    1. 1Check the connector to the oil pressure and oil temperature sensor for oxidation and loose contacts
    2. 2If you have a diagnostic tool, read the oil pressure in live data with the engine running and see whether the value stays at a constant high level
    3. 3Check the sensor wire for a short to supply voltage
    4. 4If the connector and wire are in order but the value stays high, the sensor is probably damaged and needs replacing
    5. 5Clear the code and start the engine to see whether it returns
    6. 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor and its signal

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • No noticeable symptoms for the driver

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
