What does this fault code mean?

The ECM monitors the oil pressure with the combined oil pressure and oil temperature sensor and constantly checks that the value stays within a fixed range. The code is set when the oil pressure falls outside the range while the engine is running. The fault may be poor contact, a signal wire shorted to ground, or a damaged sensor.

    Possible causes

    • Contact resistance or oxidation in connections
    • Signal wire shorted to ground
    • Oil pressure and oil temperature sensor is damaged

    What you can do

    1. 1Check the sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
    2. 2Use a multimeter to check that the sensor signal wire is not shorted to ground
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the oil pressure in live data with the engine running and see whether it is outside the range all the time or only sometimes
    4. 4If the connector and wire are in order, the sensor is probably damaged and needs replacing
    5. 5Clear the code and start the engine to see whether it returns
    6. 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor and its signal

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • No noticeable symptoms for the driver

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
