What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors the oil pressure with the combined oil pressure and oil temperature sensor and constantly checks that the value stays within a fixed range. The code is set when the value rises above the fixed range while the engine is running. The fault may be a signal wire shorted to supply voltage, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Oil pressure and oil temperature sensor is damaged
What you can do
- 1Check the sensor connector for oxidation and loose contacts
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the sensor signal wire has no contact with voltage when the ignition is off
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the oil pressure in live data with the engine running and see whether it is above the range all the time
- 4If the connector and wire are in order, the sensor is probably damaged and needs replacing
- 5Clear the code and start the engine to see whether it returns
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the sensor and the signal wire
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
