What does this fault code mean?
The ECM has registered an internal fault while cruise control is active, and the fault lies in the engine control module itself. Cruise control is switched off for as long as the fault is active. After the engine control module has been reprogrammed or the battery has been replaced, the brake pedal must be pressed twice in quick succession before cruise control can be activated.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and start the car to see whether it returns
- 2If cruise control cannot be activated after the battery has been disconnected: press the brake pedal twice in quick succession
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the status of the code in the engine control module with the ignition on and see whether the fault is still active
- 4Road test with cruise control and see whether it engages and holds speed
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the engine control module, as it may need replacing
Symptoms you may notice2
- Cruise control does not work at all
- Cruise control does not engage
What the fault can affect1
- Cruise control is switched off for as long as the fault is active
