What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to bank 2 and is set when the camshaft sits further forward than the engine control module has requested during catalyst warm-up after a cold start. The fault may relate to engine oil quality, oil pressure, or parts of the VVT system: the control valve and the VVT unit.
Possible causes
- Poor engine oil quality
- Low oil pressure
- Damaged camshaft control valve
- Damaged VVT unit
What you can do
- 1Check that the engine oil is clean and of the right quality, as contaminants can damage the VVT unit
- 2Have a workshop check the engine oil pressure
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the actual and requested camshaft position for bank 2 in live data during warm-up
- 4Clear the code and road test the car with the engine cold to see whether it returns
- 5If the code returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the control valve and the VVT unit on bank 2
Symptoms you may notice2
- Uneven idle
- The engine misfires
