What does this fault code mean?
The A/C system needs a certain base pressure to work well. The ECM monitors the pressure and sets the code when the pressure on the high-pressure side does not rise as expected after the compressor starts, once the A/C function has been activated. The cause may be a leak in the A/C system, a damaged pressure sensor, or a damaged A/C compressor.
Possible causes
- Leak in the A/C system
- Damaged pressure sensor
- Damaged A/C compressor
What you can do
- 1Switch the A/C on and listen for the compressor engaging, and check that it does not sound abnormal
- 2Look for oil marks or visible signs of leakage at the connections in the A/C system
- 3With a diagnostic tool, read the A/C pressure in live data while the compressor runs, and check whether it rises
- 4Clear the code and road test with the A/C on to see whether it returns
- 5Have a workshop check for leaks and for refilling of refrigerant, as this requires special equipment
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the pressure sensor and the A/C compressor
Symptoms you may notice3
- The air conditioning does not work
- The air conditioning is not cold enough in the rear area
- The air conditioning cools slowly in the rear area
