What does this fault code mean?
At starting the ECM requests a certain fuel pressure. The code is set when the correct fuel pressure is not reached during the start attempt, that is, when the pressure is too low compared with what is requested. This is a signal fault.
Possible causes
- No specific cause is stated for this fault code
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the fuel pump and the engine control are intact
- 2Listen for the fuel pump running when the ignition is switched on
- 3Check the battery condition, as low voltage can affect the fuel pump
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the fuel pressure in live data during a start attempt and see whether it rises to a reasonable level
- 5Clear the code and make a test start with the engine cold to see whether it returns
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the fuel pressure and the fuel system
Symptoms you may notice3
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
- Hard to start, with the engine cranking slowly, especially when cold
- Black smoke from the exhaust
