What does this fault code mean?
This is an electrical fault where the voltage in the circuit is too high. The ECM sees that the reading from the sensor on the catalytic converter does not match the calculated value. The fault may lie in a wire shorted to supply voltage, in the connectors, or in the sensor.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged temperature sensor
- Contact resistance or oxidation in connections
- Break in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to the temperature sensor on the catalytic converter is secure and undamaged
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to supply voltage when the ignition is off
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no break and is not shorted to ground
- 4Check that the fuses are intact
- 5Clear the code and start the engine to see whether it returns
- 6If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the temperature sensor and the wire
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
