What does this fault code mean?
The ECM monitors the vacuum pressure sensor, which measures the negative pressure in the brake booster. If the vacuum is too low while driving, automatic engine start/stop is not allowed. The fault may be a loose or oxidized connector, or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Loose or oxidized connector contact
- Damaged vacuum pressure sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the vacuum pressure sensor connector is secure and not oxidized
- 2Check that the hose between the engine and the brake booster is secure and not kinked or damaged
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the vacuum pressure in live data with the engine running and see whether the value is steady
- 4Clear the code and start the engine to see whether it returns
- 5Do not work on the brake booster yourself; if the fault returns, have a workshop check the vacuum pressure sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- Automatic engine start/stop does not work, both while driving and at idle
What the fault can affect2
- The module uses a vacuum value that corresponds to no vacuum
- Automatic engine start/stop is switched off
