What does this fault code mean?
The ECM has its own checks for internal faults. The code is set when the module finds a fault in its internal voltage references, which means the fault is in the control module itself. The control module may then need replacing for the fault to clear.
Possible causes
- Internal fault in the engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the battery is in good condition
- 2Read the code, clear it and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3If the code remains after the road test, the fault is probably permanent, and the engine control module (ECM) will need replacing by a workshop
Symptoms you may notice1
- The environment lamp is lit
