What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks how the system relay operates. The fault is stored when the module detects voltage from the system relay while the relay is switched off, which suggests the relay has stuck in the energised position.
Possible causes
- The voltage wire is shorted to supply voltage
- The system relay is damaged
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check that the system relay is seated properly
- 3Look for chafed wiring on the voltage wire that may have touched a live supply
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment: activate the system relay and listen for a click when it is switched off and on
- 5If none of the checks show a fault, have a workshop replace the system relay, as a damaged relay is a possible cause
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start, hard to tell when it happens
