What does this fault code mean?
The ECM measures the voltage from the system relay and sets the code when it falls below a set value. The fault is checked only after the engine has started. The cause may be a faulty charging system or a damaged battery.
Possible causes
- Faulty charging system
- Damaged battery
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check the contact block of the system relay for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the battery condition and the charging system
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment: read the system voltage in live data with the engine running and see whether the value rises compared with the engine stopped
- 5If the connections and charging are in order, a defective system relay can cause the fault, so have a workshop check the relay
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start, hard to tell when it happens
