What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the voltage in the system and sets the code when the voltage is above a set value. The cause lies in the charging system or the battery, but also in the connections.
Possible causes
- Damaged or faulty charging system
- Damaged battery
- Contact resistance in the connections
- A battery charger with too high a charging voltage may have been connected
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Has a battery charger been connected to the battery? Too high a charging voltage can cause this code
- 3If a generator fault code is stored, troubleshoot that code first
- 4Look at the battery connections and check for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5If you have diagnostic equipment: switch on the cabin fan and headlights and read the system voltage in live data
- 6If the value becomes too high, have a workshop check the generator control module (ACM) or the generator
