What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the voltage supply from the system relay. The fault is stored when the reading from the system relay exceeds a set value. The cause may be a faulty charging system.
Possible causes
- Faulty charging system
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If a battery charger has been connected recently, it may have supplied too high a charging voltage and caused this code
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment: read the system voltage in live data with the engine running and compare it with the battery voltage, which you can measure with a multimeter
- 4Switch on some high-consumption functions such as the cabin fan and headlights and check whether the voltage follows
- 5Have a workshop check the generator brushes and slip rings and replace the generator control module (ACM) or the generator if needed
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
