What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks that the signals from the brake pedal sensor and the brake light switch are reliable. The code concerns a low signal in the circuit to the brake pedal sensor or the brake light switch, or a fault in the CAN communication with the brake control module (BCM).
Possible causes
- The fault may lie in the brake control module (BCM) or the central electronics module (CEM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment: read the BCM fault codes and deal with them first, then clear this code
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment: read the brake pedal signal in live data while you press the pedal down slowly and release it
- 4Check that the connectors at the brake pedal are firmly seated and not corroded
- 5Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the brake light switch has no open circuit or short to ground
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the brake control module (BCM) and the brake light switch, as the fault concerns the brake system
Symptoms you may notice1
- Cruise control does not work at all
What the fault can affect1
- Cruise control is switched off
