What does this fault code mean?
The CEM reads the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel and passes the signals to the ECM over CAN. The code is set when the information shows that one of the buttons has been held pressed for too long, and the button is then treated as stuck.
Possible causes
- One or more cruise control buttons have stuck in the pressed position
- Damaged steering wheel button assembly
- Faulty signal from the cruise control button panel
- The fault may lie in the central electronics module (CEM) or the steering angle sensor control module (SAS)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Look at the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel and check that none is held in the pressed position
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment: read the CEM fault codes and deal with them first, then clear this code
- 4If you have diagnostic equipment: read the button status in live data and check that the status returns when the button is released
- 5Check that the connectors to the steering wheel button assembly and to the steering angle sensor are firmly seated and not corroded
- 6If the above shows nothing, have a workshop look for the fault in the central electronics module (CEM) or the steering angle sensor control module (SAS)
Symptoms you may notice2
- Cruise control does not work at all
- Cruise control does not engage
What the fault can affect3
- Cruise control is switched off while the fault is active
- Cruise control cannot be activated
- The speed limiter is not available
