What does this fault code mean?
The ECM receives cruise control information from several other control modules over CAN, including the buttons on the steering wheel. The code is set when the ECM receives a CAN message reporting a fault in the cruise control buttons. The fault can be checked when any of the buttons is used while driving.
Possible causes
- A sticking or locked cruise control button
- The message from the cruise control buttons has a wrong checksum
- Damaged cruise control button assembly
- Several buttons activated at the same time
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Press the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel one at a time and check that they return fully and do not stick
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment: read the fault status with the engine running and see whether the fault is still active after using the buttons on a safe test drive
- 4Clear the code and road test the car. Check whether it returns when the cruise control buttons are used
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
