What does this fault code mean?
The ECM receives cruise control information over CAN from several control modules, including the buttons on the steering wheel. The message about the cruise control buttons carries a checksum that does not match, so the signal is not correct. The code is set when such faults on the cruise control buttons are signalled over CAN.
Possible causes
- A sticking or locked cruise control button
- The message from the cruise control buttons has a wrong checksum
- Damaged cruise control button assembly
- Several buttons activated at the same time
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment: read the fault status with the engine running and see whether the fault is still active after a safe test drive using the buttons
- 3Check that no button on the steering wheel is stuck or locked
- 4Clear the code and road test the car. Does it come back when the buttons are used?
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the cruise control button assembly
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
