What does this fault code mean?
A CAN message about the cruise control from the FSM or the CEM has a sequence counter that is not correct or is not being updated, and then the ECM sets the code. The code is checked while driving with the cruise control activated.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector blades
- Fault in the CAN network
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Read the fault status during a safe test drive with the cruise control switched on and see whether the fault is still active
- 3Look at the connectors in the cruise control circuit for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Check that the connectors on the CAN network are firmly seated and undamaged
- 5Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop look for it in the CAN network
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
