What does this fault code mean?
The signal that the engine control module (ECM) gets from the front monitoring module (FSM) over the CAN network is judged to be faulty, and the code is then set. The code can only be cleared once the FSM fault has been dealt with.
Possible causes
- The fault may lie in the front monitoring module (FSM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment: read the fault codes in the front monitoring module (FSM) and deal with them first
- 3Check that the connectors on the CAN network to the FSM are firmly seated and not corroded
- 4Clear this code only after the FSM fault has been dealt with
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop look for the fault in the front monitoring module (FSM)
