What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks the thermostat. The code is set when the voltage on the signal wire from the thermostat is too low, and the check is made with the ignition on.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in connections
- The signal wire to the thermostat is shorted to ground
- Damaged thermostat
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check the connectors at the thermostat and the control module for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire is not shorted to ground
- 4Clear the code and road test the car, then see whether it returns
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the thermostat
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
