What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is named serial communication link, it concerns the voltage supply to sensors and actuators, which the ECM monitors internally. The code is set when the voltage supply regulator is not working, and
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2If you have diagnostic equipment: read the fault status with the ignition on and see whether the fault is active
- 3Check that the wiring to the engine control module is firmly seated and not corroded
- 4Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop replace the engine control module (ECM), as the fault lies within it
Symptoms you may notice4
- Driving hesitates, surges or is jerky
- Idle is uneven
- The engine is hard to start and the starter motor cranks slowly
- The engine does not start
