What does this fault code mean?
The ECM constantly checks its RAM memory and sets the code on an internal fault in the memory. Consequence: car performance is limited if the fault returns over a longer period.
Possible causes
- Poorly charged battery or corroded connecting leads
- The ECM software is faulty
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check the battery terminals and connections for corrosion and loose contacts
- 2Check that the fuses are intact
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment: read the battery voltage in live data with the engine running
- 4Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the control module software and replace the engine control module (ECM) if that does not help
