What does this fault code mean?
The ECM checks its RAM memory and sets the code on an internal fault. The fault may concern the supervision software in the module. A poorly charged battery or corroded connections can also cause it.
Possible causes
- Poorly charged battery or corroded connecting leads
- The ECM software is faulty
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Check the battery terminals and connections for corrosion and loose contacts
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment: read the fault status with the ignition on and see whether the fault is active
- 4Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check and, if needed, reload the control module software, and replace the engine control module (ECM) if that does not help
Symptoms you may notice4
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
- The engine performs poorly and lacks power
- The engine lacks power especially when the car is set moving
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs jerkily under acceleration
What the fault can affect1
- If the fault remains for a longer time, the car's performance may be limited
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
