What does this fault code mean?
The ECM constantly checks its ROM memory and sets the code on an internal fault. Consequence: the engine control module tries to restart itself, Engine power and engine speed are limited.
Possible causes
- The ECM software is faulty
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact
- 2Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 3If you have diagnostic equipment: read the code status after the ignition has been switched on
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop reload the engine control module software
- 5If that does not help, have a workshop replace the engine control module (ECM)
