What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors its own processor functions and has found a fault in the software that performs this supervision. This is an internal fault in the control module, not in the engine or the wiring.

- Internal fault in the engine control module
What you can do
- 1Check that the battery and charging system are in good condition, as low or unstable voltage can cause false internal faults
- 2Clear the code and see whether it returns
- 3If it returns, the engine control module needs attention – it can often be repaired, or replaced and programmed
- 4Avoid heavy engine load until the fault has been fixed
