What does this fault code mean?
The code is event-driven, which means it is an information code and does not show a fault in the ECM. It is set when the module's internal checks give impermissible results with the engine running. The code does not need repairing, but if driving problems remain after clearing it they should be followed up.
Possible causes
- No fault that needs repairing lies behind the code
What you can do
- 1Read the code with the engine at idle and note whether it is active right now
- 2Check that the battery is charged and that the battery terminals and earth connections are tight and clean
- 3Clear the code and road test the car
- 4If the driving problems remain, have a workshop reload the software in the ECM. Replace the module only if that does not help
Symptoms you may notice3
- The engine runs poorly and lacks power
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs roughly during acceleration or deceleration
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs roughly at constant speed
What the fault can affect1
- Some internal signals in the ECM are replaced by default values
